What's Their Plan?

What's their plan?
Sure they've nothing
Hidden in their hearts
That make them so bold
And take us for granted?

Yet we like fools
Join to plunder
The fatherland like we've gotten another place,
The problem with us
Is that we allow ourselves
To be hoodwinked with sentiments
Tribe and religion and unwittingly
Give the enemies opportunity
To rape and plunder our fatherland

Closing our eyes, blocking our ears
To the atrocities they daily
Commit in the land blocking out
The sounds of dissent and discontentment
Coming from the very soul of the land;

This ship is sinking
Our differences we ought to bury
To prevent the slide to oblivion
Or else we'll all be buried
Beneath the rubble and waste.

Poet's note: The Nigerian state has been undergoing a lot of crises occasioned by bad governance. Policies are made without regards to the welfare and wellbeing of Nigerians who are suffering untold hardship. The poem continues the spirit of the poet's poem "Nigeria is finished!" In it the poet believes the leaders have a hidden plan to destroy the country and thinks the masses are helping to destroy the country by allowing religion and tribe to divide them.
