Are we human
When our eyes can't draw a line
Between human beings, animals or trees?
When our mind's can't see
The humanity in our victims
Nor the pleading in their eyes
Asking for just a little pity?
Are we human
When we bind a child
Like the children we nurture
At home with love, hand and foot
Like an animal and slaughter
Him like a lamb offered
At the altar of a wicked god
That sucks and lives
On human blood like Dracula?
Are we human
When we offer to sacrifice
Fellow humans in the sanctuary
Of the desire for wealth
At all cost for the fleeting things
Of a dying world
And which we'll leave behind
When that great demand for our souls is made.

Poet's note: Every where in the world human beings are killed by other humans as if they were animals. "Bestiality" decries this and encourages respect for human life.
