I cross till I am weary
A Mountain-in my mind-
More Mountains-then a Sea-
More Seas-And then
A Desert-find-
And My Horizon blocks
With steady-drifting-Grains
Of unconjectured quantity-
As Asiatic Rains-
Nor this-defeat my Pace-
It hinder from the West
But as an Enemy's Salute
One hurrying to Rest-
What merit had the Goal-
Except there intervene
Faint Doubt-and far Competitor-
To jeopardize the Gain?
At last-the Grace in sight-
I shout unto my feet-
I offer them the Whole of Heaven
The instant that we meet-
They strive-and yet delay-
They perish-Do we die-
Or is this Death's Experiment-
Reversed-in Victory?
