Love's Supremacy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCCC DEDECFCF CGCGCECE CHCHDIDI

As yon great Sun in his supreme conditionA
Absorbs small worlds and makes them all his ownB
So does my love absorb each vain ambitionA
Each outside purpose which my life has knownB
Stars cannot shine so near that vast orb's splendorC
They are content to feed his flames of fireC
And so my heart is satisfied to renderC
Its strength its all to meet thy strong desireC
-
As in a forest when dead leaves are fallingD
From all save some perennial green treeE
So one by one I find all pleasures pallingD
That are not linked with or enjoyed by theeE
And all the homage that the world may profferC
I take as perfumed oils or incense sweetF
And think of it as one thing more to offerC
And sacrifice to Love at thy dear feetF
-
I love myself because thou art my loverC
My name seems dear since uttered by thy voiceG
Yet argus eyed I watch and would discoverC
Each blemish in the object of thy choiceG
I coldly sit in judgment on each errorC
To my soul's gaze I hold each fault of meE
Until my pride is lost in abject terrorC
Lest I become inadequate to theeE
-
Like some swift rushing and sea seeking riverC
Which gathers force the farther on it goesH
So does the current of my love foreverC
Find added strength and beauty as it flowsH
The more I give the more remains for givingD
The more receive the more remains to winI
Ah only in eternities of livingD
Will life be long enough to love thee inI
