Green Visions Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DEFGD HEIJ KDDA

I'm curious about you miss NigerA
At sixty you're unmarried yet you are filled with childrenB
I term it underdevelopment oh unprogressive damselC
-
The caterpillar is now eleven years old counting from twenty eleven to twenty twentyD
Visions planned longer than a long nightE
Morning shows off burnt people burnt market burnt health burnt freedom burnt airport burnt rights and people's choiceF
If the morning is not clearG
How will the afternoon and evening beD
-
We clasp our hands and watchH
Or our efforts as low as burnt candlelightE
As the tree of our success dieI
While we can actually make it growJ
-
Will our caterpillar of wishes born eleven years ago die as caterpillarsK
Won't it one day grow into a butterfly of realityD
Let's pray for our CountryD
But I'm really curious about you miss NigerA

Delumozie Sandra Uche

Poet's note: I wrote this poem, January 2020 for Nigeria, my country. I wrote it based on the situation of things in the Country then. In 2011, Nigeria made their vision 2020 planning for a better Nigeria. Our flag is green, white, green, making it green visions. I was curious about the long expected 2020 that was why I wrote this poem for Nigeria.
