Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDE FGFHIHI AJAJHKHK ABABLJL

'Well what tidings today ' said the beeA
To the burgeoning roseB
'You are young yet already you seeA
Much of life I suppose 'C
Said the rose 'Oh this life is so filledD
With astonishing thingsE
That I think I could not be more thrilledD
E'en if roses had wingsE
-
Three lupins have bloomed by the pondF
Since last you were hereG
In the nest of the blue wrens beyondF
Three nestlings appearH
A gay butterfly slept by my sideI
All yesternight thro'H
Till dawn when a thrush hymned his prideI
But how goes it with you '-
-
'There are great things at hand ' said the beeA
'Change comes to my lifeJ
In my hive in the woollybutt treeA
Strange rumors are rifeJ
The old queen grows restless I fearH
She is planning to roamK
And I must adventure this yearH
From the old safe homeK
-
'Old Black Wallaby's limping I seeA
Trap again I supposeB
Life is full of mischance ' said the beeA
'Ah no ' sighed the roseB
'Despite all the folly and sinL
And the gala and the strifeJ
It's a wonderful world we live inL
It's a wonderful life '-
