The Kid Around The Corner Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDDEB AFGFHHI AJKJGGCJ

There's a kid around the cornerA
Who is filled with half formed fearsB
He is growing rather wistfulC
As the Christmas season nearsB
For a hint has reached him latelyD
That has made him wonder greatlyD
If the jovial old SantaE
Is as kind as he appearsB
-
But the kid around the cornerA
Has strong faith in Santa ClausF
Notwithstanding dread depressionG
And all economic lawsF
Could we run this sad old earth rightH
Such a faith were all youth's birthrightH
If you asked him why he holds itI
He would answer 'Just because '-
-
There's a kid around the cornerA
Who will wake on Christmas mornJ
With his faith renewed in goodnessK
Or incredulous forlornJ
With a child's trust sadly shakenG
Then how would we have him wakenG
In whose hands rests the miracleC
Of Santa Claus rebornJ
