Collins Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEEFG

A Genius caged in niceties of artA
A full souled Bard that should have thought apartA
Creatively peculiar not as taughtB
By models which though rare and richly wroughtB
As polished jewels set in chastened goldC
Have lost at length their birth fire and are coldC
-
Yet how shot through with beauty are the LaysD
His nice hand fashioned for the after daysD
Painting and Sculpture in his verse combineE
With Poesy and breathing through each lineE
In harmonised transfusion they dispenseF
The spirit of a triune excellenceG
