Absence Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDED FFGGHDIIDDHI| NIGHTLY I watch the moon with silvery sheen | A |
| Flaking the city house tops till I feel | B |
| Thy memory Rosa like a presence steal | B |
| Down in her light for ever in her mien | A |
| Thy soul s similitude my soul hath seen | A |
| And as she seemeth now a guardian seal | B |
| On Heaven s far bliss upon my future weal | B |
| Even such thy truth is radiantly serene | A |
| But long my fancy may not entertain | C |
| These bright resemblances for lo a cloud | D |
| Blots her away and in my breast the pain | C |
| Of absent love recurring pines aloud | D |
| When shall I look in thy sweet eyes again | E |
| Rosa when cheer thee with like sadness bowed | D |
| - | |
| Wherever in some wildwood bower | F |
| There blooms a honey yielding flower | F |
| There too dwells a bird to sup | G |
| Out of its delicious cup | G |
| And sing betimes lest it should be | H |
| O erfed into satiety | D |
| So wherever Loveliness | I |
| Dwells retired dwells to bless | I |
| Not dazzle there some destin d spirit | D |
| Feeding on its luscious merit | D |
| Can at peace with Passion be | H |
| Only through sweet Poesy | I |
