How I Grew Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKL ABCDEFHMJKL

I was so innocent all I wanted to do was enjoy my childhoodA
But he tortured me inside outB
He made me witness the worstC
The trauma of it all is so overwhelmingD
I could not speak as I had no voiceE
I had no one to speak for me eitherF
My voice was not for the voicelessG
as I was the voiceless oneH
I cried every night out of fearI
Hoping and praying he spares her breathJ
Hoping and praying for a normal lifeK
I have never feared anyone the way I have feared himL
-
Yes I blame him for ruining my childhoodA
I was too young to have my life figured outB
Why do I feel like I am cursedC
I was the only girl and the oldest who saw it all and it's so overwhelmingD
It felt like I was forced to have a voiceE
Like I was the leaderF
I had to lead and be the fearless oneH
But every night I'd drop a tearM
Hoping today is my last breathJ
Trying and praying by all means for the above to take my lifeK
It has been a roller coaster all because of himL

Poet's note: I wrote this poem around May 2020. I did not write it for a specific person but it is my way of expressing myself from what I have been through as a child. While writing this poem I felt so sad it brought back all the memories I had buried but I feel like it was worth it to write out my thoughts. This poem means a lot to me as it is about me, my past to be specific, it is just a summary of my past and it means a lot to me and I feel like there are some individuals out there who could relate to this.
