In Memory Of Marina Tsvetaeva Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGH IJKJ BLML MGHG GNMN MONP BQBR SMRM NSTS HUNU

Dismal day with the weather inclementA
Inconsolably rivulets runB
Down the porch in front of the doorwayC
Through my wide open windows they comeD
-
But behind the old fence on the roadsideE
See the public gardens are floodedF
Like wild beasts in a den the raincloudsG
Sprawl about in shaggy disorderH
-
In such weather I dream of a volumeI
On the beauties of Earth in our ageJ
And I draw an imp of the forestK
Just for you on the title pageJ
-
Oh Marina I'd find it no burdenB
And the time has been long overdueL
Your sad clay should be brought from YelabugaM
By a requiem written for youL
-
All the triumph of your homecomingM
I considered last year in a placeG
Near a snow covered bend in the riverH
Where boats winter locked in the iceG
-
What can I do to be of serviceG
Convey somehow your own requestN
For in the silence of your goingM
There's a reproach left unexpressedN
-
A loss is always enigmaticM
I hunt for clues to no availO
And rack my brains in fruitless tormentN
Death has no lineaments at allP
-
Words left half spoken self deceptionB
Promises shadows all are vainQ
And only faith in resurrectionB
Can give the semblance of a signR
-
Step out into the open countryS
Winter's a sumptuous funeral wakeM
Add currants to the dusk then wineR
And there you have your funeral cakeM
-
The apple tree stands in a snowdriftN
Outside All this year long to meS
The snow clad city's been a massiveT
Monument to your memoryS
-
With your face turned to meet your MakerH
You yearn for Him from here on EarthU
As in the days when those upon itN
Were yet to appreciate your worthU
