The Lovers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG HDHD IDID HDHD JDJD

With silken tresses floating freeA
A dark eyed maiden wandersB
Alone beside the murmuring seaA
And of her lover pondersB
-
The fisher boats at anchor rideC
The summer moon is wakingD
Its beams of silver on the tideC
In rippling flakes are breakingD
-
The golden sands in murmurs speakE
Her dainty foot that pressesF
The salt sea wind upon her cheekE
Is lavish of caressesG
-
Afar upon a winding streamH
A youth is softly rowingD
Above his head the star worlds gleamH
And bright the moon is glowingD
-
The trees are swaying to and froI
Their shadowy boughs extendingD
And leaf born music sweet and lowI
Is with the night wind blendingD
-
Far off where meadows kiss the streamH
A golden light is winkingD
Upon the waves its soft rays gleamH
From crest to hollow sinkingD
-
Upon the youth and maiden's heartJ
The lamp of love is shiningD
Though distance holds them both apartJ
Their souls are intertwiningD
