The Fourth Epigram Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: A BBCCBBDDEEFF EEGGHHOn GALLA | A |
- | |
Now liquid Streams by the fierce Cold do grow | B |
As solid as the Rocks from whence they flow | B |
Now Tibers Banks with Ice united meet | C |
And it's firm Stream may well be term'd its Street | C |
Now Vot'ries 'fore the Shrines like Statues show | B |
And scarce the Men from Images we know | B |
Now Winters Palsey seizes ev'ry Age | D |
And none's so warm but feels the Seasons Rage | D |
Even the bright Lillies and triumphant Red | E |
Which o're Corinna's youthful cheeks are spred | E |
Look pale and bleak and shew a purple hew | F |
And Violets staine where Roses lately grew | F |
- | |
Galla alone with wonder we behold | E |
Maintain her Spring and still out brave the Cold | E |
Her constant white does not to Frost give place | G |
Nor fresh Vermillion fade upon her face | G |
Sure Divine beauty in this Dame does shine | H |
Not Humane one reply'd yet not Divine | H |
