So it is eighteen yearsA
Helena since we metB
A season so endearsA
Nor you nor I forgetB
The fresh young faces that once cloveC
In that most fiery dawn of loveC
-
We wandered to and froD
Who knew not how to wooE
Those eighteen years agoD
Sweetheart when I and youE
Exchanged high vows in heaven's sightF
That scarce survived a summer's nightF
-
What scourge smote from the starsA
What madness from the moonG
That night we broke the barsA
Was quintessential JuneG
When you and I beneath the treesA
Bartered our bold virginitiesA
-
Eighteen years months or hoursA
Time is a tyrant's toyH
Eternal are the flowersA
We are but girl and boyH
Yet since love leapt as swift to nightF
As it had never left the lightF
-
For fiercer from the SouthI
Still flames your cruel hairJ
And Trojan Helen's mouthI
Still not so ripe and rareJ
As Helena's nor love nor youthK
So leaps with lust or thrills with truthK
-
Helena still we holdL
Flesh firmer still we mixA
Black hair with hair as goldL
Life has but served to fixA
Our hearts love lingers on the tongueM
And who loves once is always youngM
-
The stars are still the sameN
The changeful moon enduresA
Come without fear or shameN
And draw my mouth to yoursA
Youth fails however flesh be fainO
Manhood and womanhood attainO
-
Life is a string of pearlsA
And you the first I strungM
You left first flower of girlsA
Life lyric on my tongueM
An indefatigable danceA
An inexhaustible romanceA
-
Blush of love's dawn bright budP
That bloomed for my delightF
First blossom of my bloodP
Burn in that blood to nightF
Helena Helena fiercely freshQ
Your flesh flies fervent to my fleshQ
-
What sage can dare impugnG
Man's immortalityR
Our godhead swims immuneG
From death and destinyR
Ignored the bubble in the flowD
Of love eighteen short years agoD
-
Time I embrace all timeS
As my arm rings your waistT
Space you surpass sublimeS
As taking me we tasteT
Omnipotence sense slaying senseA
Soul slaying soul omniscienceA
