First The Dog Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A ABACDE CFGCH IJKLADA MNCDOPFQ

to LaikaA
-
-
So first the faithful dog will goA
and after it a pig or assB
through the black grass will beat a trackA
along it will the first man stealC
who with iron hand will smotherD
on his glass brow a drop of fearE
-
-
so first the dog honest mongrelC
which has never abandoned usF
dreaming of earthly lamps and bonesG
will fall asleep in its whirling kennelC
its warm blood boiling drying awayH
-
-
but we behind the dog and secondI
dog which guides us on a leashJ
we with the astronauts white caneK
awkwardly we bump into starsL
we see nothing we hear nothingA
we beat with our fists on the dark etherD
on all the wavelengths is a whiningA
-
-
everything we can carry on boardM
through the cinders of dark worldsN
name of man scent of appleC
acorn of sound quarter of colourD
should all be saved for our returnO
so we can find the route in an instantP
when the blind dog leading usF
barks at the earth as at the moonQ
