A Halt Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHI JK

We halted in a town the hostA
ordered the table to be moved to the garden the first starB
shone out and faded we were breaking breadC
crickets were heard in the twilight loosestrifeD
a cry but a cry of a child otherwise the bustleE
of insects of men a thick scent of earthF
those who were sitting with their backs to the wallG
saw violet now the gallows hillH
on the wall the dense ivy of executionsI
-
we were eating muchJ
as is usual when nobody paysK
