A Ballad That We Do Not Perish Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DE FGH I DJK LKM INODP

Those who sailed at dawnA
but will never returnB
left their trace on a waveC
-
a shell fell to the bottom of the seaD
beautiful as lips turned to stoneE
-
those who walked on a sandy roadF
but could not reach the shuttered windowsG
though they already saw the roofsH
-
they have found shelter in a bell of airI
-
but those who leave behind onlyD
a room grown cold a few booksJ
an empty inkwell white paperK
-
in truth they have not completely diedL
their whisper travels through thickets of wallpaperK
their level head still lives in the ceilingM
-
their paradise was made of airI
of water lime and earth an angel of windN
will pulverize the body in its handO
they will beD
carried over the meadows of this worldP
