Bonnie Montrose Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CDEE CFF GGHHII HHHFFAA

Beautiful town of Montrose I will now commence my layA
And I will write in praise of thee without dismayA
And in spite of all your foesB
I will venture to call thee Bonnie MontroseB
-
Your beautiful Chain Bridge is magnificent to be seenC
Spanning the river Esk a beautiful tidal streamD
Which abounds with trout and salmonE
And can be had for the catching without any gammonE
-
Then as for the Mid Links it is most beautiful to be seen And I'm sure is a very nice bowling greenC
Where young men can enjoy themselves and inhale the pure airF
Emanating from the sea and the beautiful flowers thereF
-
And as for the High Street it's most beautiful to seeG
There's no street can surpass it in the town of DundeeG
Because it is so long and wideH
That the people can pass on either sideH
Without jostling one anotherI
Or going to any botherI
-
Beautiful town of Montrose near by the seasideH
With your fine shops and streets so wideH
'Tis health for the people that in you resideH
Because they do inhale the pure fragrant airF
Emanating from the sea waves and shrubberies growing thereF
And the inhabitants of Montrose ought to feel gayA
Because you are one of the bonniest towns in Scotland at the present dayA
