Remembrances Of The Renowned Knight, Sir Rowland Cotton, Of Bellaport In Shropshire, Concerning Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDDDCCCC DDEF GHDDII JJCC

Renowned Champion full of wrestling ArtA
And made for victory in every partA
Whose active Limbes oyl'd Tongue and vertuous MindB
Subdu'd both Foe and Friend the Rough and KindB
Yea ev'n Thy selfe and thy Diseases tooC
And all but Death which won with much adoeC
And shall at last be vanquish'd where are nowD
Those brawny Armes that crush'd the Dane and howD
Doe all thy Languages to Silence turneD
Babel's undifferenc'd by the speechlesse UrneD
What use of Wisedome now to mold the stateC
Where All are Equall to appease debateC
Where All doe sleepe sowre dangers to fore fendC
When Spite hath done her worst and dangers endC
-
-
Had Death a Body like the Dane's or thineD
Th' adst beene Her death if humane Eares like mineD
Thy tongues had charm'd them if a heart to loveE
Each quality of thine a dart might proveF
-
-
One Beame thou living hadst of EminenceG
And still in Use left heere and carried henceH
Immortall Love as busie now as thenD
There fixt on God yet heere intwin'd with MenD
That makes Thee pray for Us Us write for TheeI
Joynes Heaven and Earth in one FraternityI
-
-
Love sayes thy Fall's not desparate a FallJ
That hopes for Rising Waite but for a CallJ
And thou shalt rise summon'd with Champion soundC
Ant us like more strong from under GroundC
