Her Terms Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCABCDEFDEFGHIIHJKL JKMLM NONPONQRKQRKSSIISTUB TUBBB

My wedded lifeA
Must every pleasure bringB
On scale extensiveC
If I'm your wifeA
I must have everythingB
That's most expensiveC
A lady's maidD
My hair alone to doE
I am not ableF
And I'm afraidD
I've been accustomed toE
A first rate tableF
These things one must consider when one marriesG
And everything I wear must come from ParisH
Oh think of thatI
Oh think of thatI
I can't wear anything that's not from ParisH
From top to toesJ
Quite Frenchified I amK
If you examineL
And then who knowsJ
Perhaps some day a famK
Perhaps a famineM
My argument's correct if you examineL
What should we do if there should come a f famineM
-
Though in green peaN
Yourself you needn't stintO
In July sunnyN
In JanuareeP
It really costs a mintO
A mint of moneyN
No lamb for usQ
House lamb at Christmas sellsR
At prices handsomeK
AsparagusQ
In winter parallelsR
A Monarch's ransomK
When purse to bread and butter barely reachesS
What is your wife to do for hot house peachesS
Ah tell me thatI
Ah tell me thatI
What IS your wife to do for hot house peachesS
Your heart and handT
Though at my feet you layU
All others scorningB
As matters standT
There's nothing now to sayU
Except good morningB
Though virtue be a husband's best adorningB
That won't pay rates and taxes so good morningB
