The Doomed Ship Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAABDA EFFEEF

The doomed ship drives on helpless through the seaA
All that the mariners may do is doneB
And death is left for men to gaze uponC
While side by side two friends sit silentlyA
Friends once foes once and now by death made freeA
Of Love and Hate of all things lost or wonB
Yet still the wonder of that strife bygoneD
Clouds all the hope or horror that may beA
-
Thus Sorrow are we sitting side by sideE
Amid this welter of the grey despairF
Nor have we images of foul or fairF
To vex save of thy kissed face of a brideE
Thy scornful face of tears when I was triedE
And failed neath pain I was not made to bearF
