Our Hands Have Met Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAC DEDDC FDFFC DGDD DHDDC

Our hands have met our lips have metA
Our souls who knows when the wind blowsB
How light souls drift mid longings setA
If thou forget'st can I forgetA
The time that was not long agoC
-
Thou wert not silent then but toldD
Sweet secrets dear I drew so nearE
Thy shamefaced cheeks grown overboldD
That scarce thine eyes might I beholdD
Ah was it then so long agoC
-
Trembled my lips and thou wouldst turnF
But hadst no heart to draw apartD
Beneath my lips thy cheek did burnF
Yet no rebuke that I might learnF
Yea kind looks still not long agoC
-
Wilt thou be glad upon the dayD
When unto me this love shall beG
An idle fancy passed awayD
And we shall meet and smile and sayD
'O wasted sighs of long ago '-
-
Wilt thou rejoice that thou hast setD
Cold words dull shows 'twixt hearts drawn closeH
That cold at heart I live on yetD
Forgetting still that I forgetD
The priceless days of long agoC
