Inscription Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDEFFGGHHIIJJKLABCome and where these runnels fall | A |
Listen to my madrigal | B |
Far from all sounds of all the strife | C |
That murmur through the walks of life | C |
From grief inquietude and fears | D |
From scenes of riot or of tears | E |
From passions cankering day by day | F |
That wear the inmost heart away | F |
From pale Detraction's envious spite | G |
That worries where it fears to bite | G |
From mad Ambition's worldly chase | H |
Come and in this shady place | H |
Be thine Contentment's humble joys | I |
And a life that makes no noise | I |
Save when fancy musing long | J |
Turns to desultory song | J |
And wakes some lonely melody | K |
Like the water dripping by | L |
Come and where these runnels fall | A |
Listen to my madrigal | B |
