Waiting Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEAFGHIJK ALMNOPANAQ

When I am alone I am happyA
The air is cool The sky isB
flecked and splashed and woundC
with color The crimson phalloiD
of the sassafras leavesE
hang crowded before meA
in shoals on the heavy branchesF
When I reach my doorstepG
I am greeted byH
the happy shrieks of my childrenI
and my heart sinksJ
I am crushedK
-
Are not my children as dear to meA
as falling leaves orL
must one become stupidM
to grow olderN
It seems much as if SorrowO
had tripped up my heelsP
Let us see let us seeA
What did I plan to say to herN
when it should happen to meA
as it has happened nowQ
