The Show Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDE FGHI JK LM NO PQR ST TT UF VWFXY

My soul looked down from a vague height with DeathA
As unremembering how I rose or whyB
And saw a sad land weak with sweats of dearthC
Gray cratered like the moon with hollow woeD
And fitted with great pocks and scabs of plaquesE
-
Across its beard that horror of harsh wireF
There moved thin caterpillars slowly uncoiledG
It seemed they pushed themselves to be as plugsH
Of ditches where they writhed and shrivelled killedI
-
By them had slimy paths been trailed and scrapedJ
Round myriad warts that might be little hillsK
-
From gloom's last dregs these long strung creatures creptL
And vanished out of dawn down hidden holesM
-
And smell came up from those foul openingsN
As out of mouths or deep wounds deepeningO
-
On dithering feet upgathered more and moreP
Brown strings towards strings of gray with bristling spinesQ
All migrants from green fields intent on mireR
-
Those that were gray of more abundant spawnsS
Ramped on the rest and ate them and were eatenT
-
I saw their bitten backs curve loop and straightenT
I watched those agonies curl lift and flattenT
-
Whereat in terror what that sight might meanU
I reeled and shivered earthward like a featherF
-
And Death fell with me like a deepening moanV
And He picking a manner of worm which half had hidW
Its bruises in the earth but crawled no furtherF
Showed me its feet the feet of many menX
And the fresh severed head of it my headY
