The Roads Also Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDD EFGHI JJJKL MMNMO

The roads also have their wistful restA
When the weathercocks perch still and roostB
And the looks of men turn kind to clocksC
And the trams go empty to their dromeD
The streets also dream their dreamD
-
The old houses muse of the old daysE
And their fond trees leaning on them dozeF
On their steps chatter and clatter stopsG
For the cries of other times hold menH
And they hear the unknown moanI
-
They remember alien ardours and far futuresJ
And the smiles not seen in happy featuresJ
Their begetters call them from the guttersJ
In the gardens unborn child souls wailK
And the dead scribble on wallsL
-
Though their own child cry for them in tearsM
Women weep but hear no sound upstairsM
They believe in love they had not livedN
And passion past the reach of stairsM
To the world's towers or starsO
