Happiness Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDE FGHIIH

Ever again to breathe pure happinessA
So happy that we gave away our toyB
We smiled at nothings needing no caressC
Have we not laughed too often since with JoyB
Have we not stolen too strange and sorrowful wrongsD
For her hands' pardoning The sun may cleanseE
And time and starlight Life will sing great songsD
And gods will show us pleasures more than men'sE
-
Yet heaven looks smaller than the old doll's homeF
No nestling place is left in bluebell bloomG
And the wide arms of trees have lost their scopeH
The former happiness is unreturningI
Boys' griefs are not so grievous as our yearningI
Boys have no sadness sadder than our hopeH
