Arms And The Boy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGH IIJK

Let the boy try along this bayonet bladeA
How cold steel is and keen with hunger of bloodB
Blue with all malice like a madman's flashC
And thinly drawn with famishing for fleshD
-
Lend him to stroke these blind blunt bullet headsE
Which long to muzzle in the hearts of ladsF
Or give him cartridges of fine zinc teethG
Sharp with the sharpness of grief and deathH
-
For his teeth seem for laughing round an appleI
There lurk no claws behind his fingers suppleI
And God will grow no talons at his heelsJ
Nor antlers through the thickness of his curlsK
