Year's End Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDECEFG HIJKLM

The state cracked where they left your breathA
No longer instrument Along the shoreB
The sand ripped up and the newer bloodC
Streaked like a vein to every monumentD
The empty smoke that drifted near the gunsE
Where the stiff motor pounded in the mudC
Had the smell of a hundred burned out sunsE
The ceiling of your sky went darkF
A year ago today they cracked your bonesG
-
So rot in a closet in the groundH
For the bad trumpets and the capitol'sI
Long seasonable grief Rot for its guestsJ
Alive that step away from death Yet youK
A year cold come more living to this roomL
Than these intruders vertical and warmM
