Six Significant Landscapes Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHHHIJ AEKLEMNOPQ ANEERAEESTG NUVFWXYEEN NEEEENNE NEEEZEEEEUE

IA
An old man sitsB
In the shadow of a pine treeC
In ChinaD
He sees larkspurE
Blue and whiteF
At the edge of the shadowG
Move in the windH
His beard moves in the windH
The pine tree moves in the windH
Thus water flowsI
Over weedsJ
-
IIA
The night is of the colourE
Of a woman's armK
Night the femaleL
ObscureE
Fragrant and suppleM
Conceals herselfN
A pool shinesO
Like a braceletP
Shaken in a danceQ
-
IIIA
I measure myselfN
Against a tall treeE
I find that I am much tallerE
For I reach right up to the sunR
With my eyeA
And I reach to the shore of the seaE
With my earE
Nevertheless I dislikeS
The way ants crawlT
In and out of my shadowG
-
IVN
When my dream was near the moonU
The white folds of its gownV
Filled with yellow lightF
The soles of its feetW
Grew redX
Its hair filledY
With certain blue crystallizationsE
From starsE
Not far offN
-
VN
Not all the knives of the lamp postsE
Nor the chisels of the long streetsE
Nor the mallets of the domesE
And high towersE
Can carveN
What one star can carveN
Shining through the grape leavesE
-
VIN
Rationalists wearing square hatsE
Think in square roomsE
Looking at the floorE
Looking at the ceilingZ
They confine themselvesE
To right angled trianglesE
If they tried rhomboidsE
Cones waving lines ellipsesE
As for example the ellipse of the half moonU
Rationalists would wear sombrerosE
