UnsatisfyA
-
He walked through markets rich with goldB
Yet every jewel felt dim felt coldB
The merchants bowed the treasures shoneC
But still he whispered Not my ownC
-
He built a hall of marble whiteD
Its pillars gleamed in endless lightD
Yet echoes rang through hollow wallsE
A hunger gnawed beneath the hallsE
-
He drank the wine he broke the breadF
But thirst and hunger grew insteadF
Each banquet left him wanting moreG
Each feast a wound each gift a soreG
-
He sailed across the boundless seasH
To claim the lands the skies the treesH
Yet every shore though vast though wideI
Could never calm the storm insideI
-
Unsatisfy his constant nameJ
A fire no riches could ever tameJ
The more he gained the less he keptK
The more he laughed the more he weptK
-
And when at last his crown was wornL
Its weight was heavy sharp with thornL
For kingdoms fall and thrones decayM
But hunger never fades awayM
