When Gassy Thompson Struck It Rich Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE DGHI JKLK MNON PQRQ STUT VWXW YZLZ

He paid a Swede twelve bits an hourA
Just to invent a fancy styleB
To spread the celebration paintC
So it would show at least a mileB
-
Some things they did I will not tellD
They're not quite proper for a rhymeE
But I WILL say Yim Yonson SwedeF
Did sure invent a sunflower timeE
-
One thing they did that I can tellD
And not offend the ladies hereG
They took a goat to Simp's SaloonH
And made it take a bath in beerI
-
That ENTERprise took MANagementJ
They broke a wash tub in the frayK
But mister goat was bathed all rightL
And bar keep Simp was too they sayK
-
They wore girls' pink straw hats to churchM
And clucked like hens They surely didN
They bought two HOtel frying pansO
And in them down the mountain slidN
-
They went to Denver in good clothesP
And kept Burt's grill room wide awakeQ
And cut about like jumping jacksR
And ordered seven dollar steakQ
-
They had the waiters whirling roundS
Just sweeping up the smear and smashT
They tried to buy the State house flagU
They showed the Janitor the cashT
-
And old Dan Tucker on a tootV
Or John Paul Jones before the breezeW
Or Indians eating fat fried dogX
Were not as happy babes as theseW
-
One morn in hills near Cripple creekY
With cheerful swears the two awokeZ
The Swede had twenty cents all rightL
But Gassy Thompson was clean brokeZ
