The Voice Of The Man Impatient With Visions And Utopias Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFEGHIHFJKJFLML

We find your soft Utopias as whiteA
As new cut bread and dull as life in cellsB
O scribes who dare forget how wild we areC
How human breasts adore alarum bellsB
You house us in a hive of prigs and saintsD
Communal frugal clean and chaste by lawE
I'd rather brood in bloody ElsinoreF
Or be Lear's fool straw crowned amid the strawE
Promise us all our share in AgincourtG
Say that our clerks shall venture scorns and deathH
That future ant hills will not be too goodI
For Henry Fifth or Hotspur or MacbethH
Promise that through to morrow's spirit warF
Man's deathless soul will hack and hew its wayJ
Each flaunting Caesar climbing to his fateK
Scorning the utmost steps of yesterdayJ
Never a shallow jester any moreF
Let not Jack Falstaff spill the ale in vainL
Let Touchstone set the fashions for the wiseM
And Ariel wreak his fancies through the rainL
