King Arthur's Men Have Come Again Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDCEFGF BHIHJKLK BMNMOPQP

Written while a field worker in the Anti Saloon League of IllinoisA
-
-
King Arthur's men have come againB
They challenge everywhereC
The foes of Christ's Eternal ChurchD
Her incense crowns the airC
The heathen knighthood cower and curseE
To hear the bugles ringF
BUT SPEARS ARE SET THE CHARGE IS ONG
WISE ARTHUR SHALL BE KINGF
-
And Cromwell's men have come againB
I meet them in the streetH
Stern but in this no way of thornsI
Shall snare the children's feetH
The reveling foemen wreak but wasteJ
A sodden poisonous bandK
FIERCE CROMWELL BUILDS THE FLOWER BRIGHT TOWNSL
AND A MORE SUNLIT LANDK
-
And Lincoln's men have come againB
Up from the South he flayedM
The grandsons of his foes ariseN
In his own cause arrayedM
They rise for freedom and clean lawsO
High laws that shall endureP
OUR GOD ESTABLISHES HIS ARMQ
AND MAKES THE BATTLE SUREP
