Above The Battle's Front Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JBKB

St Francis Buddha Tolstoi and St JohnA
Friends if you four as pilgrims hand in handB
Returned the hate of earth once more to dareC
And walked upon the water and the landB
-
If you with words celestial stopped these kingsD
For sober conclave ere their battle greatE
Would they for one deep instant then discernF
Their crime their heart rot and their fiend's estateE
-
If you should float above the battle's frontG
Pillars of cloud of fire that does not slayH
Bearing a fifth within your regal trainI
The Son of David in his strange arrayH
-
If in his majesty he towered toward HeavenJ
Would they have hearts to see or understandB
Nay for he hovers there to night we knowK
Thorn crowned above the water and the landB
