Written At Stonehenge Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBCDEDEDE

Thou noblest monument of Albion's isleA
Whether by Merlin's aid from Scythia's shoreB
To Amber's fatal plain Pendragon boreB
Huge frame of giant hands the mighty pileA
T' entomb his Britons slain by Hengist's guileA
Or Druid priests sprinkled with human goreB
Taught 'mid thy massy maze their mystic loreB
Or Danish chiefs enrich'd with savage spoilC
To Victory's idol vast an unhewn shrineD
Rear'd the rude heap or in thy hallow'd roundE
Repose the kings of Brutus' genuine lineD
Or here those kings in solemn state were crown'dE
Studious to trace thy wondrous origineD
We muse on many an ancient tale renown'dE
