The Hottentot Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAABBADEDFGG

Mild melancholy and sedate he standsA
Tending another's flock upon the fieldsB
His father's once where now the White Man buildsC
His home and issues forth his proud commandsA
His dark eye flashes not his listless handsA
Lean on the shepherd's staff no more he wieldsB
The Libyan bow but to th' oppressor yieldsB
Submissively his freedom and his landsA
Has he no courage Once he had but loD
Harsh Servitude hath worn him to the boneE
No enterprise Alas the brand the blowD
Have humbled him to dust even hope is goneF
He's a base hearted hound not worth his foodG
His Master cries he has no gratitudeG
