Omens Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDED FGFGHIFI JGJGJKJL

When daylight was yet sleeping under the pillowA
And stars in the heavens still lingering shoneB
Young Kitty all blushing rose up from her pillowA
The last time she e'er was to press it aloneB
For the youth whom she treasured her heart and her soul inC
Had promised to link the last tie before noonD
And when once the young heart of a maiden is stolenE
The maiden herself will steal after it soonD
-
As she look'd in the glass which a woman ne'er missesF
Nor ever wants time for a sly glance or twoG
A butterfly fresh from the night flower's kissesF
Flew over the mirror and shaded her viewG
Enraged with the insect for hiding her gracesH
She brush'd him he fell alas never to riseI
Ah such said the girl is the pride of our facesF
For which the soul's innocence too often diesI
-
While she stole through the garden where heart's ease was growingJ
She cull'd some and kiss'd off its night fallen dewG
And a rose further on look'd so tempting and glowingJ
That spite of her haste she must gather it tooG
But while o'er the roses too carelessly leaningJ
Her zone flew in two and the heart's ease was lostK
Ah this means said the girl and she sigh'd at its meaningJ
That love is scarce worth the repose it will costL
