Behold The Sun. (air.--lord Mornington.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GAGA

Behold the Sun how brightA
From yonder East he springsB
As if the soul of life and lightA
Were breathing from his wingsB
-
So bright the Gospel brokeC
Upon the souls of menD
So fresh the dreaming world awokeC
In Truth's full radiance thenD
-
Before yon Sun aroseE
Stars clustered thro' the skyF
But oh how dim how pale were thoseE
To His one burning eyeF
-
So Truth lent many a rayG
To bless the Pagan's nightA
But Lord how weak how cold were theyG
To Thy One glorious LightA
