In The Night She Came Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHIHJKLK MNMNDNDN

I told her when I left one dayA
That whatsoever weight of careB
Might strain our love Time's mere assaultC
Would work no changes thereB
And in the night she came to meD
Toothless and wan and oldE
With leaden concaves round her eyesF
And wrinkles manifoldE
-
I tremblingly exclaimed to herG
O wherefore do you ghost me thusH
I have said that dull defacing TimeI
Will bring no dreads to usH
And is that true of YOU she criedJ
In voice of troubled tuneK
I faltered Well I did not thinkL
You would test me quite so soonK
-
She vanished with a curious smileM
Which told me plainlier than by wordN
That my staunch pledge could scarce beguileM
The fear she had averredN
Her doubts then wrought their shape in meD
And when next day I paidN
My due caress we seemed to beD
Divided by some shadeN
