The Petition Of Tom Dermody To The Three Fates In Council Sitting Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCCCDDCCCCCEEFDG GHHDICCJJKKLLKKKKKKK K

Right rigorous and so forth HumbledA
By cares and mourning tost and tumbledA
Before your Ladyships Tom FoolB
Knowing above the rest you ruleB
Most lamentably sets his caseC
With a bold heart and saucy faceC
Sans shoes or stocking coat or breechesC
You see him now most mighty witchesC
His body worn like an old farthingD
The angry spirit just a partingD
His credit rotten and his purseC
As empty as a cobbler's curseC
His Poems too unsold that's worseC
In short between confounded crossesC
Patrons all vexed and former lossesC
Sure as a gun he cannot failE
Next week to warble in a jailE
Which jail to folks not very sanguineF
Is just as good or worse than hangingD
Though in the first vain hopes flatterG
But Hope's quite strangled by the latterG
Thus is a poor rhyming rascal treatedH
Fairly or rather fouly cheatedH
Of all the goods from wit accruingD
Wit that's synonomous with ruinI
Then take it in your head piece LadiesC
To set up a poor Bard whose trade isC
Low fallen enough in conscience pityJ
The maker of this magic dittyJ
And turn your wheel once more in hasteK
To see him on the summit placedK
For well you wot that woes 'od rot 'emL
Have long since stretched him at the bottomL
Where he who erst fine lyrics gabbledK
With mire and filth was sorely dabbledK
So pitifully pelted thatK
He looks like any drowned ratK
O Justice Justice take his partK
O lift him on thy lofty CartK
Magnific Fame And let Fat PlentyK
Marry one Poet out of TwentyK
