There is a countryA

Where Graduates flood the labour market yearlyA
With the hope of getting employed one dayB
While the elites' undergraduate children are paid monthlyA
They are on the payroll even before their convocation dayB

There is a countryA

Where only the elites and their children work in NNPCC
But only to end up in the office of the ICPCC
Or caught in the net of the eagle eyed EFFCC
Because of the palms they do greaseD

There is a countryA
-
Where little children roam the street as AlmajirisD
Food education and shelter none they haveE
What does the future holds for the AlmajirisD
With a plate of jollof rice today next is at Boko Haram caveF

There is a countryA
-
Where thugs fight and kill one anotherG
All because of political actorsD
And not because to put that country in orderG
In absence are the children of those political actorsD

There is a countryA

Where youths want to ride benzD
Stealing women undies and eating faeces like it's a garden cressD
Hunting for new diabolical means en masseD
Making themselves to be to the society a messD

There is a countryA

Where traders accurately measures in your presenceD
On reaching home you asked the essence of your presenceD
Wondering how the measure was manipulatedH
Not knowing their measures have been cut or boiledI

There is a countryA
-
Where businessmen are happy making others unhappyA
Inflating prices after a long term hoardingC
In the suffering of others they are happyA
But when it expired or destroyed they are lamentingC

There is a countryA

Where security personnels are fearful brave patriotsD
Brave in their mind to go and confront insecurityA
But lack weapons and morale to die as patriotsD
And fearful about their children's educational securityA

There is a countryA
-
Where government and workers are always not at parJ
Strike has become a normal thing yearlyA
Workers living like those behind barsD
Patients and students are at the receiving end mostlyA

There is a countryA
-
Where students want to pass without reading their booksD
Person wey know his way na him know bookC
Campuses are dens for drug addicts and cult membersD
And abodes for slay mamas smouldering like embersD

There is a countryA

Where lecturers lay with their daughters' age matesD
While their daughters are locked behind their gatesD
They cajole female students that life is give and takeC
Not thinking about the struggles behind educating that life at stakeC

There is a countryA
-
Where her tourist sites are mosques and churchesD
Citizens attend daily and hourly service at her mosques and churchesD
But their acts aren't in tandem with any religionK
Kidnapping murder and terrorism in different regionK
-
There is a countryA
-
Where clerics no longer preach about good virtuesD
They have become Marabouts for corrupt officials lacking virtuesD
And a safe haven for armed robbers cultist and kidnappersD
They are accomplices of ritual killers and kidnappersD

There is a countryA
-
Where husbands are busy drinking and their wives busy partyingC
Leaving their children under the care of housemaidsD
Husbands treating their wives like chattels or maidsD
Because of the exorbitant bride price or they met while partyingC

There is a countryA

Where parents failed to train their childrenK
And families failed to chide their wardsD
The untrained children are now threat to all electoral wardsD
The old and young are now leaving in fear of those untrained childrenK

There is a countryA

Where artisans promise and fail like they are Satan's mentorL
To get your cloth ready on time you must lie to your tailorG
Going to a mechanic's workshop there is fear of fueling your vehicleM
Attempts to outsmart them is like running round in a circleM

There is a countryA
-
Where greedy men hooked up sugar mummies claiming destitutionK
And female money grubbers have resorted to prostitutionK
After several abortions they accused their village people of infertilityA
While some end up dramatising on the street in nudityA

There is a countryA
-
Where small small children are heavily smokingC
Gambling drinking and harassment are now the day's orderG
And when penniless they resort to stealingC
Are these the future leaders to put the country in orderG

There is a countryA
-
Where government officials are lordsD
They bottleneck the already bottlenecked bureaucracyA
If you don't drop something you can't get a nodN
But they'll be the first to criticise the government of democracyA

There is a countryA
-
Where every citizens is playing the blame gameO
Without thinking about how to change the gameO
We must redefine our identity before it escalates to another levelM
Let us grow the country so as to move on to the next levelM
