Mr. Apollinax Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABCAADAAAEF GFEHGIJKG

When Mr Apollinax visited the United StatesA
His laughter tinkled among the teacupsA
I thought of Fragilion that shy figure among the birch treesA
And of Priapus in the shrubberyB
Gaping at the lady in the swingC
In the palace of Mrs Phlaccus at Professor Channing Cheetah'sA
He laughed like an irresponsible foetusA
His laughter was submarine and profoundD
Like the old man of the sea'sA
Hidden under coral islandsA
Where worried bodies of drowned men drift down in the green silenceA
Dropping from fingers of surfE
I looked for the head of Mr Apollinax rolling under a chairF
-
Or grinning over a screenG
With seaweed in its hairF
I heard the beat of centaur's hoofs over the hard turfE
As his dry and passionate talk devoured the afternoonH
He is a charming man But after all what did he meanG
His pointed ears He must be unbalancedI
There was something he said that I might have challengedJ
Of dowager Mrs Phlaccus and Professor and Mrs CheetahK
I remember a slice of lemon and a bitten macaroonG
