Divina Lysi m aB
perdona si me atrevoC
a llamarte as cuandoD
aun de ser tuya el nombre no merezcoE
-
A esto no osad aB
es llamarte as puestoD
que a ti te sobran rayosF
si en m pudiera haber atrevimientosF
-
Error es de la lenguaE
que lo que dice imperioG
del due o en el dominioH
parezcan posesiones en el siervoC
-
Mi rey dice el vasalloA
mi c rcel dice el presoF
y el m s humilde esclavoC
sin agraviarlo llama suyo al due oI
-
As cuando yo m aB
te llamo no pretendoD
que juzguen que eres m aB
sino s lo que yo ser tuya quieroG
-
Yo te vi pero bastaB
que a publicar incendiosF
basta apuntar la causaF
sin a adir la culpa del efectoD
-
Que mirarte tan altaB
no impide a mi denuedoB
que no hay deidad seguraB
al altivo volar del pensamientoB
-
Y aunque otras m s merezcanH
en distancia del cieloA
lo mismo dista el valleA
m s humilde que el monte m s soberbioJ
-
En fin yo de adorarteB
el delito confiesoF
si quieres castigarmeK
este mismo castigo ser premioK

EnglishL
My divine LysisF
do forgive my daringE
if so I address youM
unworthy though I am to be known as yoursF
-
I cannot think it boldB
to call you so well knowingE
you've ample thunderboltsF
to shatter any overweening of mineH
-
It's the tongue that misspeaksF
when what is called dominionH
I mean the master's ruleA
is made to seem possession by the slaveC
-
The vassal says my kingE
my prison the convict saysF
and any humble slaveC
will call the master his without offenseF
-
Thus when I call you mineH
it's not that I expectB
you'll be considered suchN
only that I hope I may be yoursF
-
I saw you need more be saidB
To broadcast a fireG
telling the cause sufficesF
no need to apportion blame for the effectB
-
Seeing you so exaltedB
does not prevent my daringE
no god is ever secureG
against the lofty flight of human thoughtB
-
There are women more deservingE
yet in distance from heavenH
the humblest of valleysF
seems no farther than the highest peakE
-
In sum I must admitB
to the crime of adoring youM
should you wish to punish meK
the very punishment will be rewardB
