Black Skin Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB BCDE FGHI FJJBK LBGF

Being born and raised on the continent of AfricaA
Post Apartheid days in the Rainbow Nation South AfricaA
Sitting in a classroom filled with so many shadesB
A privilege my ancestors fought for in countless decadesB
-
I walked quietly in the white neighbourhoodsB
Carrying my books in my bagC
I had to pass every test like I shouldD
And get that degree my parents never hadE
-
This was my ancestors' dreamF
For a fair livelihood irregardless of their skinG
I had that privilege and more could be doneH
Being black is not a crime and that should be a norm for generations to comeI
-
Now today I have a dreamF
That a black child will never experience povertyJ
They should acquire the best education of their abilityJ
Lead organizations instead of gangsB
Be in summits instead of jailK
-
Be a societal inspiration instead of a threatL
Rule the world and fly in private jetsB
Not being another crime statistic due to the oppression put on them because the colour of their skinG
Black child this is what I envision for you in my dreamF
