Thou Blind Man's Mark Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CABA BDE BEE

Thou blind man's mark thou fool's self chosen snareA
Fond fancy's scum and dregs of scatter'd thoughtB
Band of all evils cradle of causeless careA
Thou web of will whose end is never wroughtB
-
Desire desire I have too dearly boughtC
With price of mangled mind thy worthless wareA
Too long too long asleep thou hast me broughtB
Who should my mind to higher things prepareA
-
But yet in vain thou hast my ruin soughtB
In vain thou madest me to vain things aspireD
In vain thou kindlest all thy smoky fireE
-
For virtue hath this better lesson taughtB
Within myself to seek my only hireE
Desiring nought but how to kill desireE
