Rhyme Scheme: ABCA ADBA EFG HII

His mother dear Cupid offended lateA
Because that Mars grown slacker in her loveB
With pricking shot he did not throughly moreC
To keep the pace of their first loving stateA
-
The boy refus'd for fear of Mars's hateA
Who threaten'd stripes if he his wrath did proveD
But she in chafe him from her lap did shoveB
Brake bow brake shafts while Cupid weeping sateA
-
Till that his grandame Nature pityijng itE
Of stella's brows make him two better bowsF
And in her eyes of arrows infiniteG
-
Oh how for joy he leaps oh how he crowsH
And straight therewith like wags new got to playI
Falls to shrewd turns and I was in his wayI
