Sonnet Xii: Cupid, Because Thou Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA ABBA CDC DEE

Cupid because thou shin'st in Stella's eyesA
That from her locks thy day nets noe scapes freeB
That those lips swell so full of thee they beB
That her sweet breath makes oft thy flames to riseA
-
That in her breast thy pap well sugared liesA
That he Grace gracious makes thy wrongs that sheB
What words so ere she speak persuades for theeB
That her clear voice lifts thy fame to the skiesA
-
Thou countest Stella thine like those whose powersC
Having got up a breach by fighting wellD
Cry Victory this fair day all is oursC
-
Oh no her heart is such a citadelD
So fortified with wit stored with disdainE
That to win it is all the skill and painE
