Ancient History Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACAD EFEFGG

Adam a brown old vulture in the rainA
Shivered below his wind whipped olive treesB
Huddling sharp chin on scarred and scraggy kneesB
He moaned and mumbled to his darkening brainA
'He was the grandest of them all was CainA
'A lion laired in the hills that none could tireC
'Swift as a stag a stallion of the plainA
'Hungry and fierce with deeds of huge desire 'D
-
Grimly he thought of Abel soft and fairE
A lover with disaster in his faceF
And scarlet blossom twisted in bright hairE
'Afraid to fight was murder more disgraceF
'God always hated Cain' He bowed his headG
The gaunt wild man whose lovely sons were deadG
