That air same Jones which lived in Jones	A
He had this pint about him	B
He'd swear with a hundred sighs and groans	A
That farmers MUST stop gittin' loans	A
And git along without 'em	C

That bankers warehousemen and sich	D
Was fatt'nin' on the planter	E
And Tennessy was rotten rich	D
A raisin' meat and corn all which	D
Draw'd money to Atlanta	F

And the only thing says Jones to do	G
Is eat no meat that's boughten	H
But tear up every I O U	G
And plant all corn and swear for true	G
To quit a raisin' cotton '	-

Thus spouted Jones whar folks could hear	I
At Court and other gatherin's	A
And thus kep' spoutin' many a year	J
Proclaimin' loudly far and near	J
Sich fiddlesticks and blatherin's	A

But one all fired sweatin' day	K
It happened I was hoein'	H
My lower corn field which it lay	K
'Longside the road that runs my way	K
Whar I can see what's goin'	H
	-
And a'ter twelve o'clock had come	C
I felt a kinder faggin'	H
And laid myself un'neath a plum	C
To let my dinner settle sum	C
When 'long come Jones's waggin	H
	-
And Jones was settin' in it SO	A
A readin' of a paper	E
His mules was goin' powerful slow	A
Fur he had tied the lines onto	G
The staple of the scraper	E
	-
The mules they stopped about a rod	L
From me and went to feedin'	H
'Longside the road upon the sod	L
But Jones which he had tuck a tod	L
Not knowin' kept a readin'	H
	-
And presently says he Hit's true	G
That Clisby's head is level	M
Thar's one thing farmers all must do	G
To keep themselves from goin' tew	G
Bankruptcy and the devil	M
	-
More corn more corn MUST plant less ground	N
And MUSTN'T eat what's boughten	H
Next year they'll do it reasonin's sound	N
And cotton will fetch 'bout a dollar a pound	N
THARFORE I'LL plant ALL cotton	H
